History

NewsLink was launched in 1997, with the intention of addressing the desire of seafarers to "keep in touch with happenings at home. It was appreciated that positive news from home could uplift the morale and help the individual become a more productive and safe worker.

Earlier, editions were produced in the seafarer's native language and resembled a newspaper in appearance. Its design has undergone a modification to create a better method of delivering NewsLink to the crew, efficiently and economically. The ease of use for seafarers is kept topmost in mind.

Present

Today, NewsLink comes to the crew in English, the official maritime language, replacing the previously used native languages. This serves the dual purpose of updating with the latest news back home and improving command over the language. NewsLink is a comprehensive, four-page English daily that brings "good news" to the seafarers from over 30 countries around the world.

The NewsLink Abridged Edition is much smaller than the four-page news edition. It contains headline news, regional news, top international news and sports news. Two to three stories in each section. The Abridged Editions are available from all the countries for which the four-page news edition is published.
