"I welcome the fact that NewsLink has taken up the challenge of providing seafarers with news and information in support of IMO's efforts to improve safety, security and the marine environment. I particularly welcome the provision of affordable computer based training (CBT) material for seafarers on Maritime English based on extracts from IMO's Standard Marine Communication Phrases - it is a good idea, well executed, particularly its use of various accents of spoken English."

- William A. O'Neil
Secretary-General. International Maritime Organization.(IMO)

Using an efficient and cost-effective method, NewsLink's Daily Electronic Crew Newspaper is delivered to the vessels globally by e-mail. Everyday the seafarers can read the current news in simple English and in an easy to understand format.

All NewsLink Daily Electronic Crew Newspapers are in English and available from 35 countries and regions. In addition to the Thought for the Day, Currency Rates and Weather Information, each edition has Marine News and a Marine Safety News Bulletin, sponsored by leading Marine Authorities and Organizations.

Our goal at "NewsLink" is to bring news in a positive manner. We want the seafarer out at sea to be in a positive frame of mind and be abreast of happenings back home.

NewsLink does not intend to cover all stories, on all the days. NewsLink is like a letter from home for the seafarers, bringing the most important news, to keep the seafarers well informed of the events back home.

The NewsLink electronic newspaper is published and transmitted everyday including weekends and holidays. It brings Good News from Home to the seafarers of different countries in English - the international maritime language. The daily editions are country-specific and consist of four pages:

Four pages packed with News and Information

PAGE 1: National News
The first page carries the national news, bringing to the reader the top stories of the day from politics, business, culture and the arts.

PAGE 2: Regional News
This is a weekly roundup of news of a particular region. It features the latest and most relevant events that have taken place at the local/community level. To see NewsLink Regional News Schedule For All Countries click here.

Daily Abridged Editions

The Abridged Edition is much smaller than the regular edition. It contains headline news, regional news, top international news and sports news. Two to three stories in each section. The file is sent in text / html format.

Presently the following editions are published daily: Bangladesh, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Netherlands, Nepal, Norway, Pakistan, the Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, South Pacific, Sri Lanka, United Kingdom, Ukraine, USA, Venezuela and Yugoslavia. In addition to the above we also produce a European and an International edition. These two editions are aimed at readers who might not be able to view the news from their respective regions or for them who might not want to subscribe to so many individual editions.

NewsLink can be personalised. We include the company's logo on each page and the name of the ship receiving on the front page. This can help build company loyalty. Since the logos and ship's name are only sent to the ship once (usually in the starter packet), and they reside on the hard drive of the ship's computer, they do not increase the size of the file that is transmitted daily.
