Ans: The E-Newspaper is sent daily.

What is the file size of the newspaper?
Ans: The file size of the daily four page news edition is about 10 KB.

What is the file format in which the edition is received?
Ans: The file you receive is a cabbed (.CAB) file. It contains four text pages.

How do we receive NewsLink?
Ans: NewsLink, as any other Email , is delivered to a Vessel having Internet mail accessing system. The system should be capable of accepting attachments.

How long does it take to download the news on a vessel?
Ans: Taking a transmission rate of 9,600 Baud, (easily achievable by all commercially available marine messaging systems), 10 KB will take about 10 seconds.

Q:

What software do we need to read and print NewsLink?
Ans: Special software is needed, which is supplied free of charge, by NewsLink Services Ltd. It is compatible with most of the operating systems available.

What happens if one or more of the disks are damaged in transit?

How do we install NewsLink on our systems?
Ans: NewsLink will provide you with all the necessary documentation, presented in an easy, step-by-step guide. You can check your progress with the easy to read graphics supplied. On completion you are ready to receive NewsLink!

Q:

Will the company logos add to transmission time, costing us more money?
Ans: No. The logos etc are sent only once and housed on your hard disc. Once these have been installed in your computer, a link from your mail will connect the logo to the correct page automatically.

Q:

What is Head Office's involvement with NewsLink?
Ans: The Head Office need not be involved in the normal day to day transmission of news, except in a supervisory capacity. The daily News transmission and communication (if any) will be directly with the ship. NewsLink will however be pleased to supply any information that the Company requests.
